Dressing for Faire Part 2

Today, I was talking with some friends about Faire and we were working on Garb for one of the guys who is new to TRF. I started thinking, what is some good advice for guys dressing for Faire. Again, Keep is Simple came into play.

You don't have to have a full leather pirate Garb, Knight, or Lord when you first walk in the gate. Start with the basics and build from there. Below in the red is my wonderful husband. His Garb started with some pants and a swordsman shirt and a vest. We started with simple cotton items from Zootu (at Faire). They have a nice selection of items that are reasonably prices. We have added items from Amazon (mens tunics and Thai fisherman pants). The pants he likes the best, Medical Scrubs - no joke!

In green is a friend who does cosplay at Faires and Comic Cons. He also has built his garb a piece at at a time over the years.

The majority of the leathers are from Ravenswood. The copper pins are Ivy Moon, wooden mug (not shown) Knarly Knot. (Mine is from Wondrous Works in wood). The

The important thing is to find something comfortable. He got the hat at TRF and the cane online. His garb then become Pirate. Once we started with leather goods, we started getting just one piece a year.

Some simple ways to build you outfit:

Take an old T-Shirt and cut out the sleeves, and neckline (to make a V). Dye it (if you like) and you have a peasant shirt. Add some holes, grommets (craft store) and ribbon and you have more of a swordsman shirt. Tie a Bandanna around your head and a scarf for a sash and you have a pirate look!

You can pick up a belt at faire at several diffrent leather shops to attach your pouches and mug.
